The Hidden World of Mobile

This is brilliant

Giving up Facebook for Lent

I’ve been training quite hard lately and contrary to common knowledge it would appear that exhaustion does not lead to blissful sleep… Another night awake, and what better way then to browse through Facebook and get updates from my friends and family round the world….Vote my baby isn’t she cute; Go Manchester United; Just spent a whole weekend with my boy and loved it; Is so hungover it hurts…. Just a few of the status updates I had in my news feed, you would think the boredom alone would have put me to sleep. Alas, it was 11:59 and I was still awake – lets see who’s online. 47 People, most of whom are in New Zealand, and I would probably not talk to for more than half a pint of Guiness in a pub….Maybe I should go wish someone Happy Birthday… nope ex sales rep; someone I met travelling 3 years ago; and someone’s dog… this isn’t going welll…

This isn’t an isolated moment, and I dread to think how much time I’ve wasted on Facebook in the last 3 years; my life tricking through a virtual news feed; 100kb’s at a time….

So in the spirit of Lent… I’ve decided to drop my social obsession with my virtual world of 916 friends – 95% of whom I won’t ever see again… here’s how I did it.. Read more…
